Organising & Planning, Customer Service, Time Management, Teamwork
Co-organisers need to have the capacity to plan & organise our electrical repair events, as well as oversee their delivery. Co-organisers also need to have good people skills, both in terms of motivating and managing volunteers, as well as interacting with the general public at events. The role involves record keeping, managing expectations of visitors, filtering out any items which our events are unable to look at (e.g. microwaves, mobile phones), matching items coming in with fixer volunteers, keeping fixer volunteers supplied with hot drinks & biscuits, setting-up and packing down
Volunteers at our events speak of the warm, positive, community vibe, and many of our volunteers do so regularly as a result. Volunteers have also formed friendships with like-minded people, and also developed a stronger connection with the local community as a result. Many people volunteer with us either because of the sustainability / environmental or community theme, or both. Some people volunteer with us to increase their skills and experience, which they can add to their CV. We are always happy to provide references to volunteers based on their time with us
