Events and Outreach Volunteer (Stop Smoking)
Quit Right Tower Hamlets
Quit Right Tower Hamlets is the borough’s specialist stop smoking service. We need volunteers to help deliver outreach events, community engagement sessions, and awareness-raising activities across Tower Hamlets for 4-6 hours a week. Dates: 5th, 12th, 14th and 26th August 2025, as well as in late September 2025 and in January 2026.
Quit Right Tower Hamlets is the borough’s specialist stop smoking service, offering free, accessible, and culturally sensitive support to help residents quit tobacco and shisha. We work across diverse communities to improve health outcomes and reduce smoking-related harm. Quit Right Tower Hamlets will be delivering outreach events, community engagement sessions, and awareness-raising activities across Tower Hamlets. As a volunteer your main tasks will be to: • Support outreach activities at community events and pop-up stalls across Tower Hamlets • Distribute campaign materials and engage with residents about available services • Signpost individuals to local stop smoking support • Help to set up and pack down event equipment • Capture feedback and stories from residents (with consent) Volunteers will work alongside the Quit Right Tower Hamlets outreach team, including trained stop smoking advisors, public health officers, and community engagement workers. You may also collaborate with local partners such as housing associations, faith organisations, and youth centres. Key Dates: We need volunteers to support us at events on the following dates in August 2025: • Tues 5th Aug, 10am–1.30pm and 2:30pm–5pm. • Tues 12th Aug, 2:30pm-5pm. • Thurs 14th Aug, 2:30pm-5pm. • Tues 26th Aug, 2:30pm-5pm. We will also have events in late September, in the lead up to "Stoptober", and also in January 2026 (New Year).

Customer Service
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. No prior experience is necessary, but the following skills and personal qualities are desirable: • Good communication skills – Able to speak clearly, listen well, and engage confidently with members of the public • Friendly and approachable – Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds • Reliable and punctual – Able to commit to agreed volunteering times • Team player – Willing to work collaboratively with staff and other volunteers • Basic awareness of health and wellbeing – an interest in supporting healthier communities • Languages spoken (desirable but not essential): Bengali, Somali, Arabic, Urdu, or other community languages

We reimburse volunteer travel expenses.

During these busy campaign periods, we would ideally like volunteers to commit to 4-6 hours per week, to cover one or two events. Events will be during the working week (Monday to Friday).
