Every day 400,000 children in London have the same thing for dinner. Nothing. The Felix Project rescues good food from supermarkets, restaurants, wholesalers and farms that would otherwise go to waste. It urgently needs volunteers to help fill empty plates. Could you be a food hero in your local community by fighting food waste and hunger? Drive our small van on a designated route around London, delivering food to charities and schools. Get to see where Felix Project food goes, who it helps, and even pick up some more food to be sorted and shared! You will usually volunteer alongside a Co-Driver who will help you with navigating and dropping off food. Main Responsibilities: Driving our vans safely and with due care and attention, mindful of other road users and complying with road safety rules and regulations. · Adhering to highway speed limits and parking restrictions · Familiarising yourself with all key instrumentation: lights, wipers, heater, · Ensuring that your vehicle is locked and all windows closed, when left unattended · Assisting with loading and unloading vans · Meeting suppliers and charities · Acting as representative for The Felix Project · Follow the ‘Instructions in case of Accident’ document in your vehicle, in the unlikely event that you are involved in an accident. · Follow the ‘What to do if you break down’ document in your vehicle. Shifts are typically 4 hours long, from Monday to Friday. Morning shift: 8:45am – 12:45pm. Afternoon shift: 12:45pm-4:45pm Shifts are very flexible, so you can sign up for whenever you (and your assistant, if applicable) are available. This does NOT have to be a regular shift each week. This role is only open to drivers aged 21+
Driving (must have full driving license)
UK Driving Licence, Customer Service
You must be over 21 years of age and have no more than 6 points on your license. A reasonable level of fitness is needed as this role involves lifting boxes on and off of trollies and onto vans etc. Good team work abilities and a positive attitude would be a huge plus!
