The Dockland Settlements need reliable, conscientious and organised volunteers to help run a food bank every Wednesday at a community centre on the Isle of Dogs. We provide food, toiletries and cleaning products to vulnerable and isolated people in the local community. This role is for 4 hours every Wednesday from 10am until 2pm (or as many hours as you can offer during these times).
The Dockland Settlements need reliable, conscientious and organised volunteers to help run a food bank every Wednesday at a community centre on the Isle of Dogs. We provide food, toiletries and cleaning products to vulnerable and isolated people in the local community. The main tasks are: - bringing the food that is delivered on a Wednesday into the centre - sorting through items, checking use by dates - putting some items away in the fridges or freezers, and then bagging items up - providing local people who need it with food (and sometimes toiletries and cleaning products). This role is for 3 hours every Wednesday from 11.30am until 2.30pm (or as many hours as you can offer during these times). It will be based at The Dockland Settlements Community Centre, Calder’s Wharf, 4 Saunders Ness Road, E14 3PS.

Caring, conscientious, organised. Compassion, empathy, leadership and communication. Some awareness of food preparation or food storage safety would be ideal, but this is not essential as we will ask volunteers to complete an online Food Hygiene course.
You will be helping some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the area, helping to reduce food waste. The role is challenging but fulfilling. You will receive online training in food hygiene.
3 hours a week - every Wednesday for 3 hours from 11.30am to 2.30pm, or as many hours as you can help with during these times.
