Dementia Wellbeing Volunteer (East London)

Dementia Wellbeing is a support programme designed to improve the quality of life for people living with advanced dementia and their families. We are looking for volunteers to help a couple of hours a week with tasks such as; making a memory box, playing favourite music, reading favourite books/poems, encouraging gentle movement, or giving hand massages. Volunteers who speak Bengali would be especially welcome.
Dementia Wellbeing East London is a support programme designed to improve the quality of life for people living with advanced dementia and their families. It offers person-centred care, social and emotional support through meaningful activities and sensory stimulation. Our trained and supervised volunteers visit people regularly to provide Dementia Wellbeing in their own homes, in nursing and care homes, in hospitals, and at St Joseph's Hospice. No previous experience is required for this very rewarding role – full training and support will be provided. Volunteers carry out activities such as: - making a memory box - playing favourite music - reading favourite books/poems - encouraging gentle movement - giving hand massage We are looking for volunteers to help for a couple of hours a week. We would really welcome any volunteers who can speak Bengali.

Volunteers need to have - good listening, communication and empathy skills - an interest in supporting people in your community who are living with dementia.
