Volunteer Sundays Coordinator

Friends of the River Crane Environment

To organise and oversee FORCE’s monthly Volunteer Sunday/ practical conservation activities which take place in the open spaces along the River Crane in Richmond and Hounslow.

Detailed Description

FORCE (Friends of the River Crane Environment) runs one volunteer Sunday per month from October to June. Our monthly Volunteer Sundays are one of the main ways in which we make a difference, maintaining open spaces, improving the river and clearing paths at various locations in Richmond and Hounslow Boroughs. The workdays are fun and active and are well attended by FORCE trustees and local volunteers, many of whom are regulars. We are looking for someone to help ensure the smooth running of our monthly Volunteer Sunday activities. Tasks will include: - developing the annual programme of Volunteer Sunday activities, in liaison with the Boroughs and other volunteer groups - ensuring that a plan is in place for each month’s workday, including location, activities, tool requirements and deliveries to/from site - coordinating the promotion of the workday to members (done by FORCE trustees) - ensuring there is a suitably qualified overall supervisor, sufficient team leaders and a qualified first aider in attendance on each workday More information on the role is available on our website at: https://www.force.org.uk/get-involved/

Why these skills are required

An ability to plan and work with others is essential. Some knowledge of conservation activities across the lower Crane valley and beyond would be useful.

This role offers the opportunity of gaining experience of working with trustees of a well-respected community organisation to improve local spaces along the lower Crane and Lower Duke of Northumberland's River corridors.

Time Commitment

The development of the Volunteer Sundays programme takes place from July to September: approx. 4-6 hours each month. FORCE's Volunteer Sundays takes place one Sunday per month from October to June each year: approx. 6-8 hours per month. The post holder won’t need to be present at every volunteer Sunday event but will need to liaise with trustees and experienced regular volunteers to ensure there is a suitably qualified overall supervisor, sufficient team leaders and a qualified first aider in attendance on each workday.
