Maternal Mental Health Peer Supporters help women who are experiencing mental health difficulties arising from pregnancy loss, birth trauma or baby loss through dedicated peer support groups in the community. We are looking for compassionate women, with lived experience of pregnancy loss, baby loss or birth trauma who feel able to share their stories in group settings, helping others feel less alone. You should be available to volunteer for 12 months . Community language speakers are welcome.

Detailed Description

Sister Circle has partnered with East London NHS Foundation Trust to establish peer support groups for women using the the OCEAN Maternal Mental Health service. It is hard to comprehend how difficult it is to be unsupported during pregnancy and at birth, let alone during a traumatic birthing experience, or at a time of tragic loss. Sadly, many women have gone through this with little or no support. Maternal Mental Health Peer Supporters are volunteers who help women experiencing mental health difficulties arising from pregnancy loss, birth trauma or baby loss, through dedicated peer support groups in the community. We are looking for compassionate women, with lived experience of pregnancy loss, baby loss or birth trauma who feel able to gently share their stories in group settings, helping others feel less alone. You should be available to volunteer for 12 months. Community language speakers are especially welcome. Full training and ongoing support is provided.
