Data Protection Champion

If you believe the ‘devil is in the detail’ and enjoy working alongside a diverse range of people, then you could be a Read Easy Data Protection Champion. You will liaise with members of the Tower Hamlets Team to make sure personal data is stored according to the Data Protection Policy and generally oversee the group’s records are kept correctly and securely.

Detailed Description

If you believe the ‘devil is in the detail’ and enjoy working alongside a diverse range of people, then you could be a Read Easy Data Protection Champion. You will liaise with members of the Tower Hamlets Team to make sure personal data is stored according to the Data Protection Policy and generally oversee the group’s records are kept correctly and securely. The role of the DPC is not time-consuming. You will need to perform an annual audit of data in addition to regular checks the team are conforming to data requirements. You will also need to attend monthly Management Team meetings and contribute to the Team. On average this will take 3 - 4 hours a month. The role can be taken on alongside other Management Team roles, e.g., Treasurer or Safeguarding Champion as these are both quite light in terms of time commitment.

Why these skills are required

• Previous knowledge and experience in a data protection role is desirable, not essential. • Experience of managing personal data of others is desirable but not essential. • Ability and confidence to ensure that others are adhering to the Data Protection Policy and procedures. • An eye for detail.
