Are you a chef or cook looking to offer your spare time to volunteer for a local homelessness charity?
What will I be doing? *Regular volunteering to lead or help Companions and staff to prepare, cook, and serve a hot lunch and/or dinner for between 30 – 40 people *Share knowledge and experience – work together as part of a team to help provide nutritious, healthy and delicious food *Contribute towards recipes and meal planning *Help organise and store food donations and Fareshare deliveries – support efforts to improve sustainability and reduction of food waste *Washing up, tidying and cleaning the kitchen *A Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety certificate will be required, but this course can be offered as part of the volunteer role.

We are looking for people who are reliable, friendly, and flexible, with strong organisational and communication skills. You should be able to build positive relationships with Emmaus companions and engage effectively with the local community. Key requirements include: *Ability to prepare simple meals and follow basic recipes, ensuring food is cooked safely and to a high standard. *Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety practices, including proper handling, storage, and preparation of food, to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.

We need people every day (except Sunday) from 9.30-5.30, for as many days as you can give; 1 day a week, 2 days a month. Ideally, we need people who can commit to supporting us regularly so you become part of the team, but short–term placements are also available.
