Walk Leader or ParkBathe Ambassador (helper on sessions)
ParkBathe
A learning disability is a reduced intellectual ability and difficulty with everyday activities – for example household tasks, socialising or managing money – which affects someone for their whole life. People with a learning disability tend to take longer to learn and may need support to develop new skills, understand complicated information and interact with other people.
Walk leaders go through training to become a trained leader for our sessions. They lead up to 12 people on slow, silent sessions to de-stress using forest bathing and mindful techniques - which we teach. Ambassadors only need a briefing in order to help walk leaders on these sessions. Sessions last one hour but we tend to suggest allowing 90 minutes.

Good communication, friendly, supportive, enjoy being outdoors and spending time with other people. Sensitive to needs of others.
We already have a team of Walk leaders and Ambassadors who enjoy 'giving back' to their community. They also enjoy getting outdoors, slowing down and the joy of seeing other people leave a session feeling super relaxed and smiling. Groups often chat at the end so it can be pretty sociable too. Our walk leaders upskill and gain confidence leading sessions too - they don't feel like they have to be an 'expert' as these sessions are peer-led and free. Everyone enjoys learning about the health and wellbeing benefits of being in nature - even in a local city park!
