The Docklands Settlements' Community Centre runs a social club on the Isle of Dogs for local elderly people who come and have lunch, chat, play board games etc. We need someone to help run it. This role involves setting up the space, some cooking, chatting to elderly people, and possibly organising games etc. We are looking for volunteers who can give 4.5 hours a week on Thursdays from 10.30am to 3pm, or as much time as you can offer during these times.

Friendly, helpful, patient, kind, sympathetic If possible, able to cook, but a Food Hygiene course can be provided.
You will get to help organise and coordinate a fun, weekly event for local elderly people, putting a smile on their faces and encouraging them to make new friends and socialise. The impact of loneliness on elderly people cannot be underestimated – it is bad for their health, both physical and mental.
4.5 hours a week, every Thursday, from 10.30am to 3pm or as much time as you can offer during these times.
