The Communications and Campaigns trustee role is a new and exciting opportunity to help raise awareness of our work and enhance engagement with our members and other stakeholders such as the Council. Working with the trustees responsible for policy areas, you will be responsible for communications and for co-creating campaigns and initiatives to secure the implementation of our Manifesto for Richmond. You will head up and co-ordinate the work of the volunteer communications team.
We recognise that good and effective communications are vital in raising awareness of our work and engaging with our members and other Richmond stakeholders. The communications and campaigns trustee is responsible for: • Further developing, overseeing and steering the Society’s comms and PR strategy including resources such as the website, social media and email updates for members and interested parties. • Working with trustees responsible for such areas as planning and infrastructure, you will jointly shape communications programmes that helps influence decision taking and opinion amongst bodies such as the local council and drive an increase in Society membership. • Working with the communications volunteers (webmaster and social media manager) to make sure our online presence is contemporary and consistent, as well as making sure the Society adapts to the changing media landscape. The communications and campaigns trustee role is a new one and the person appointed will have a substantial input in developing the job description and enhancing our communications strategy.

You will have experience in communications that achieve results. You may have a background in marketing, communications, campaigning, advocacy, journalism or similar.

Variable – but probably the equivalent of half a day a week plus a monthly 2 hour trustee meeting in the evening.
