Co-Group Leader - East London Group

Motor Neurone Disease Association (East London Development Group)

The MNDA East London Group is run entirely by volunteers and aims to provide the best possible support to local people with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), their families, and carers. As a Co-Group Leader, you will plan and facilitate group meetings, ensuring that appropriate decisions are made in a timely way. You will support group volunteers in planning and coordinating group activities. Group Leaders volunteer for around 2-3 hours a week and facilitate on average 12 meetings a year.

Detailed Description

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a fatal, rapidly progressive disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles refuse to work. It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe. It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis, and it has no cure. The MND Association East London Group is run entirely by volunteers and aims to provide the best possible support to local people with MND, their families, and carers. As a Co-Group Leader, you will: o Plan, prepare for and facilitate group meetings o Ensure appropriate decisions are made in a timely way when required o Support group volunteers in planning and coordinating group activities o Ensure group volunteers are aware of and follow the Association’s policies and procedures o Work in partnership with staff to recruit new volunteers and induct and mentor new volunteers o Act as an ambassador for the Association and as a host at group events

Time Commitment
