Detailed Description

Traumatic injury is the biggest killer of those under 45 in London and every day 5 people in the city are so critically injured they need the rapid medical care only we can provide. London's Air Ambulance's new helicopters are here, but we still need you to keep us flying. We are a charity and it costs £17 million every year to deliver our service. Volunteer for us today so we can carry on saving lives across London, wherever and whenever we are needed. We are looking for committed volunteers who are able to help on a regular basis in our charity shop based at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. Our shop is vital to help us raise funds and awareness of the charity, and is also a place where patients and families often visit when they are in the hospital. WHAT DOES THIS ROLE INVOLVE? • Opening and/or closing the shop • Greeting customers and helping them with any queries • Providing information about the charity to customers and supporters • Taking payments for purchases using an electronic till • Cashing up at the end of the day. WHAT TRAINING AND SUPPORT WILL I BE GIVEN? As a London’s Air Ambulance Charity volunteer, you will receive a full induction and training to support you in your role. You will also be supported by the Community Engagement team and will be able to claim expenses for travel across London in line with our volunteer expenses policy. FURTHER INFORMATION • Our shop is located on hospital premises so although you will be officially volunteering for London's Air Ambulance Charity, all shop volunteers also need to participate in the Barts Health NHS Trust Volunteering induction • All shop volunteers are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated, and will need to complete an occupational health form and DBS check • Information about all shop volunteers will be shared with the Volunteering Team at Barts Health NHS Trust, who will jointly administer parts of the induction process and provide you with an ID badge.

The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel

The easiest way to find the shop is to come out of Whitechapel station, cross the main road in front of you at the traffic lights and walk up E Mount Street. Follow it around to the right, and enter by the very last exit on your left (through revolving doors). Keep walking in the same direction, following the corridor straight ahead, and then as it bends round to the left, the shop will be on your left.
