Event Volunteer: Christmas in the Village

Event volunteers needed to support Wimbledon Guild's popular family fundraising event, Christmas in the Village on Sunday 6th December 2026.
Wimbledon Guild's annual fundraising event, Christmas in the Village, is back on Sunday 6th December 2026! Featuring a Christmas Market, Santa's Grotto, Santa's horseback parade complete with elves, fairground rides, children's story time, music and dance sessions, face-painting, choirs, and a brass band. The day will be wrapped up with the switching on of the Christmas tree lights and sing-along carols. We need cheerful enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver this popular family event. Volunteers are needed to: • Welcome families and guide them to the next exciting live performance or activity. • Chat with families waiting in line for Santa’s Grotto and face painting, hand out festive stickers, and sprinkle some extra magic onto their experience. • Help with collecting card and bucket donations at family-friendly activities and performances. • Join the carollers, spreading holiday cheer while handing out festive treats. • Help us spread the word about our services and upcoming events, and make sure everyone leaves smiling!

No qualifications needed. We’re looking for volunteers who: • Work as part of a team and help create a friendly, sociable, and non-judgmental atmosphere. • Offer a warm welcome to people from various backgrounds and communities. • Ask for support when needed. • Feel comfortable liaising and taking direction from the Events & Fundraising team. • Follow our policies and procedures, attend relevant training sessions, and maintain appropriate boundaries.
• Apply or develop your existing skills and experience. • Connect with others and enjoy our volunteer social activities. • Support the local community of Merton. • Enhance your CV or UCAS application.
The event takes place on Sunday 6th December 2026. Volunteers can commit to a half day (4hrs) or full day (9.30 - 5.40pm). There will also be a 1 hr online volunteer briefing at 6pm on Thursday 3rd December.
