If you believe the ‘devil is in the detail’ and enjoy working alongside a diverse range of people, then you could be a Read Easy Data Protection Champion. You will liaise with members of the Tower Hamlets Team to make sure personal data is stored according to the Data Protection Policy and generally oversee the group’s records are kept correctly and securely. Read Easy is a charity that helps adults to read. This role is very flexible - around 3-4 hours per month, predominantly from home.
Read Easy is a charity that helps adults learn to read. If you believe the ‘devil is in the detail’ and enjoy working alongside a diverse range of people, then you could be a Read Easy Data Protection Champion. You will liaise with members of the Tower Hamlets Team to make sure personal data is stored according to the Data Protection Policy and generally oversee the group’s records are kept correctly and securely. The role of the DP Champion is not time-consuming. You will need to perform an annual audit of data, in addition to regular checks that the team are conforming to data requirements. You will also need to attend monthly Management Team meetings and contribute to the team. On average this will take 3-4 hours a month and most of the tasks can be performed from home. If you wish to do more volunteering, this role can be taken on alongside other roles, eg Safeguarding Champion, as they are all quite light in terms of time commitment.

Previous knowledge and experience in a data protection role is desirable, but not essential. Experience of managing personal data of others is desirable, but not essential Ability and confidence to ensure that others are adhering to the Data Protection Policy and Procedures. An eye for detail.

We are flexible with the hours, depending on your availability, but you could expect to spend about 3 to 4 hours a month in this role.
