Food Pantry Admin Volunteer

We are looking for a person who is passionate about supporting people with food provision and can commit one day a week either Wednesday or Fridays between 1-5pm. The role includes assisting people and pantry members to complete registration or check-in forms. Explaining to new members how the pantry works. Scanning forms and entering information and data on to our systems.

Detailed Description

The Food Pantry supports people experiencing food insecurity by providing low-cost food and essential items while addressing medium and long-term financial issues through holistic support. It aims to provide individual dignity by lowering the financial barriers to providing food, offering choice, and supporting long-term change. We are looking for a person who is passionate about supporting people with food provision and can commit one day a week either Wednesday or Fridays between 1-5pm. The role includes assisting people and pantry members to complete registration or check-in forms. Explaining to new members how the pantry works. Scanning forms and entering information and data on to our systems. Supporting people and pantry members to access other services, activities and events at the Bromley by Bow Centre and externally.

Why these skills are required

We are ideally looking for someone with good communication and interpersonal skills so that pantry members feel welcome and supported, can assist people to complete forms and after initial training can add data and information on to our systems. It would suit someone comfortable with using technology who is looking to gain admin experience within a community-based charity.

Time Commitment

We are looking for someone who can commit to 4 hours a week on a Wednesday or Friday between 1-5pm.

The Bromley by Bow Centre is a five-minute walk from Bromley by Bow Tube Station and ten minutes from Devon’s Road DLR Station and Bow Church DLR Station. You can visit us using local bus services; both the D8 and 488 stop outside the Centre on St Leonard’s Street.
