Cycle Lead for Merton Trike Club group tricycle rides in either of our locations Morden Hall Park of Canons Recreation grounds. Training provided.

Detailed Description

The organisation was set up to give disadvantaged Merton residents and surrounding boroughs the chance to improve their lives through training, personal development, health improvement activities and support to lead positive lives to become valued members of the community. We support people who cannot or choose not to access mainstream services due to mental, or physical ill health, age or culture. We are recruiting volunteers as Group Cycle Leads to support members of our Merton Trike Club. Merton Trike Club The project started in 2024 with group trike rides in local parks. It is for people that cannot ride a 2 wheel bike due to physical or mental health conditions, disability, mobility problems, lack of confidence or social connections. People interested in joining the group rides need to submit a Health Questionnaire, attend and pass training in how to ride a trike safely before they join the group rides in local parks. Riders pay £5 a week that can includes one or more group trike rides a week – subject to availability. Volunteers benefit from free group rides, the loan of a trike (subject to availability and agreement of senior management), volunteer trike ride awaydays. You receive training and ongoing support from staff and other volunteers, monthly volunteer meetings. We can’t express enough the difference your role will contribute towards improving the health and wellbeing of club members. Days and times – to be agreed. Locations: Morden Hall Park, Morden SM4 5JD Canons Recreation Grounds, Mitcham CR4 4HD Volunteer tasks Keyholder for the buildings where the trikes are stored Keyholder for the chain lock that secures the trikes together Ensure the trikes are returned to the store, locked together and the unit is locked Welcome riders to the group Encourage riders to adjust seat or handle bar for comfort, wear helmets (optional) Support riders to get the trikes in and out of the storage units Lead riders around the cycle areas, located in local parks, not on roads Take regular photos of group rides for funders and promotion purposes Perform Hands up Survey for funders Report trike faults, incidents or near misses to senior management Communicate with riders Set up a What’s app group between riders and Volunteers Inform of cancelled sessions and receive notifications if riders cancel Communicate with Senior Management What’s app group – Staff and Volunteers Weekly • Incidents or near misses • Attendance numbers • Trike faults or required maintenance • Good or bad feedback from riders - regular • Results of Hands up Survey - monthly Skills Cycling skills are not essential as training will be provided. Riding a 3 wheel bike is very different to riding a 2 wheel bike. Even if you’ve never ridden a bicycle before you are welcome to join us as training will be provided.
