We are keen to find more adult volunteers to help our Cub Scout Pack teams, we have 2 Cub packs so can offer opportunities to volunteer on either Tuesday evenings 6:30-8pm, or Thursday 6:45-8pm.
You will help run the Cub evening sessions alongside experienced adult volunteers. The sessions include games indoors and outdoors, craft activities, badge work on a wide range of subjects, including preparing the Cubs for camping and outside adventures. You will work as part of the volunteer leadership team, planning and delivering activities and badge work and running games. You will supervise and encourage the Cubs to challenge themselves and to help them build their skills. There will be opportunities for you to teach any skills that you have to the Cubs and bring new ideas to enhance our programmes. You can also take part in extra activities if you wish to do so during the year, such as helping at Cub camp, laser quest or paintball sessions, District competition days. There may be some preparation time needed prior to some sessions if you wish to take on the responsibility to lead particular sessions during the course of the year, but this is optional.

Enthusiasm and energy, willingness to work within a team to develop and deliver the Scout programme. A love of the outdoors is useful. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy working directly with children. Although Scouting, (and Guiding) experience is not essential, we can provide opportunities to use the skills and experience gained through your own experiences and also enable you to expand your skills, whilst having fun. You must be willing to undertake the statutory training that all volunteers have to complete, this is mainly through online modules that can be completed in your own time. We are particularly interested in people who can give a few hours a week to come along regularly to section meetings and support the leadership team.
You will be able to develop your own management skills and confidence as a leader. You will gain experience of working within a team, and working directly with children. You will improve your communication skills, learning how to handle possible conflict between children effectively. You will learn how to keep children safe, and how to manage risk. You will learn how to manage behaviour and how to assert yourself to ensure that the Cubs listen to you and get the most out of the session.
