As a Nursery Volunteer, you will assist nursery nurses and caregivers in caring for young children in places like nurseries or children's homes. Your duties may include helping with meals, play activities, or other tasks that ensure the comfort and safety of the children. This role is a great opportunity to volunteer as part of a team supporting children aged under 5 to discover, learn and have fun in our dynamic nursery.
Our St Paul’s Way Nursery provides affordable childcare and early years education for children aged two to five. Since opening in 2020, the nursery provides young people with a rich learning and play environment. We empower children to be happy and confident. We’re open for 38 weeks in the year, with breaks following the academic term times, from Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm. Abertots Playgroup opens from 8.30am to 11.30am and from midday to 3pm, Monday to Friday, during term times. The setting is in receipt of funding for free early education for children aged two, three and four years. We provide activities in accordance to the Early Years Foundation Stage, both in and outdoors. Description of tasks Support staff in making the creche a welcoming, fun and safe place where children can play and learn in a supportive environment Assist in setting up and clearing away the session, looking after materials and equipment Bring energy and enthusiasm to the session Build good relationships with parents and their toddlers Supervise the space, ensuring equipment is used properly and is safe for children to play with Help to create and lead exciting activities in arts and crafts, games, creative play and more Report any accidents, incidents or any concerns you have about children to crèche staff To fulfil and other duties considered reasonable as directed by staff To adhere to Poplar HARCA’s policies and procedures

We are looking for motivated, energetic and caring volunteers. You will have excellent listening skills and the ability to empathise. As you will build relationships with children it is very important that you are reliable and ideally you will be able to volunteer for at least three months on a regular weekly basis.

We are looking for candidates to volunteer for one day a week, 10am to 2pm.
