Detailed Description

Reading is a basic requirement of everyday life, and for many of us it is a skill we take for granted. Yet there are 2.4 million adults in England alone who can barely read or cannot read at all. If you live in Tower Hamlets, enjoy reading, and would like to help adults who are keen to develop their reading skills, then you could find becoming a Reading Coach very rewarding. You will need to factor in travel time within the borough to get to the venue to meet your reader and prepare for the lesson, but with actual lessons only taking one hour per week per reader. You will only support one reader at a time. Your availability is assessed when you apply for the role and you will be matched with a reader who is free to have lessons on the days and at the times you have indicated are suitable for you, making this a very flexible role.
