StreetLink London Phone Line Volunteer

St Mungo's

As a Streetlink London Phone Line Volunteer, you will be connecting people who are sleeping rough to local support services in their area that can help to end their homelessness. You will be taking phone calls from people who are sleeping rough, and linking them to vital support services, to help end their rough sleeping. We are particularly seeking applicants who can help during weekday (Mon-Fri) between 3pm and 9pm for at least 2 hours a week for a commitment of at least 6 months.

Detailed Description

As a Streetlink London Phone Line Volunteer, you will be connecting people who are sleeping rough to local support services in their area that can help to end their homelessness. You will be taking phone calls from people who are sleeping rough, and linking them to vital support services, to help end their rough sleeping. As a phone line service, it is important to note that this role provides support to those sleeping rough over the telephone, and not face-to-face. This volunteering role is a fantastic opportunity to not only learn about resources and provision available to those sleeping rough, but to also play an incredibly vital role in helping to end people’s homelessness. We are particularly seeking applicants who can help during weekday (Mon-Fri) between 3pm and 9pm for at least 2 hours a week for a commitment of at least 6 months. In this role, you will carry out some or all of the following tasks: • Supporting with a high volume of calls and alerts via our website and mobile app from members of the public and from people who are sleeping rough themselves. • Creating detailed alerts for local outreach teams so that people rough sleeping are found as quickly as possible. • Signposting people experiencing homelessness to other homeless support services. • Educating callers on a variety of issues related to homelessness. • Adhering to St Mungo’s Policies and Procedures at all times This role is a great opportunity for anyone who hopes to develop a career in homelessness support, or who wants to gain experience of working on a helpline.

Time Commitment
