Cycle Maintenance & Minor Repairs
Merton Empowerment CIC
To ensure our fleet of 18 Tricycles are safe to ride.
Role Purpose To ensure all tricycles are safe, clean and ready for group riders each week. This role is essential for keeping our sessions running smoothly and ensuring rider safety. Routine Checks & Maintenance Carry out weekly safety checks on all trikes (brakes, tyres, steering, chain, seat fixings). Identify faults, wear and tear, or parts needing replacement. Complete minor repairs such as tightening bolts, adjusting brakes, inflating tyres, lubricating chains. Clean trikes regularly to maintain hygiene and presentation. Transport to and from cycle repair shop for annual safety check. Report any serious issues immediately to Senior Management. Advise when parts need ordering or when a trike should be taken out of use. Show riders or volunteers how to adjust seats and handlebars safely. Offer basic guidance on trike care (e.g., how to store them correctly). Work alongside Lead Cyclist Volunteers when needed. Ensure tools and maintenance equipment are kept tidy and secure. Support with organising trike storage units if required. We deliver group tricycle rides for people that are unable to ride a 2 wheel bike due to physical or mental condition, disability, confidence or isolation. The rides take place at Morden Hall Park, Morden and Canons House and Grounds. Mitcham. The tricycles are stored at the same locations.
