Parent Group Leader

LBTH Family Hubs

LBTH Family Hubs are recruiting volunteers to become Parent Group Leaders. In this role you will first attend a 10-session certificated training course to skill yourself up. You will then go on to volunteer in pairs to deliver the training to other parents in Tower Hamlets, helping them to understand and manage their own and their child's feelings, and to learn positive communication, strategies to manage behaviour, and how to manage parental stress.

Detailed Description

Would you like to develop your skills and confidence and, at the same time, make a difference to local families with young children? LBTH Family Hubs are looking for local residents to become volunteer Parent Group Leaders. This role comes with some fantastic certificated training. It is imperative that volunteers are available to attend training sessions once a week. The Baby and Us training includes a complimentary lunch, childcare, and parking facilities. Upon successful completion of the training, each participant will be awarded a certificate and will be offered the opportunity to become a Parent Group Leader (PGL) volunteer. You and another Parent Group Leader will then volunteer together to co-deliver 'Being a Parent' courses to other parents in Tower Hamlets over a ten-week period. The course covers how to manage your feelings and your child's feelings, how to communicate and interact positively with your child, using positive strategies to manage your child's behaviour, and understanding how to manage parental stress. There is a choice of two courses of Being A Parent (BAP) training available, so you can choose the course that suits you. BAP training sessions will be held once a week for 4 hours for a duration of 10 weeks. The Baby and Us training course is for parents/carers of young babies and runs once a week for 4 hours for 7 weeks. Training course dates: "Being a Parent" (BAP) at John Smith Children's Centre Tuesdays from 17 September to 19 November 2024 (10 weeks) 10am - 2pm or "Being a Parent" (BAP) at Overland Children's Centre Thursdays from 3 October to 5 December 2024 (10 weeks) 10am - 2pm or Baby and Us at Meath Garden Children's Centre Tuesdays, from 8 October to 19 November 2024 (7 weeks) 10am - 2pm Ongoing support will be provided.
