Detailed Description

Join our active and busy multifaith-based team to provide a confidential listening service and wellbeing support to everyone working on the Canary Wharf estate, irrespective of faith perspective. As a Retail Chaplain you will be walking around the retail outlets, visiting staff in shops, cafés, and restaurants at Canary Wharf. You will offer a confidential listening ear and engage them in conversation on anything; life issues, money worries and football! On a busy or stressful day, our volunteers offer a friendly face and calming presence. Over time, you will build up meaningful relationships with people across all roles within retail. If people have specific needs, you will signpost them to additional sources of support. Training and supervision will be provided, and initially the Lead Retail Chaplain or another volunteer will be accompanying you on your visits, helping you grow in confidence. You will also attend Retail Chaplaincy team meetings and keep a log of visits. Volunteers are needed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The shifts are: 10am-12pm, or 2pm-5pm, or 5pm-7pm, followed by a short debriefing with the Lead Retail Chaplain. In consultation with the Lead Retail Chaplain, each volunteer is free to work out the level of commitment that suits their circumstances, but we hope volunteers will be able to give 2 to 3 hours each week.
