The role of Treasurer is so important to us - not only do we need someone to keep us on track financially and keep us viable, but even more significantly, we are looking for someone to help us formulate our vision for the future. The new Treasurer will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our ambitious plans for the next 3 years; supporting us to address our funding challenges and develop a long-term strategy for growth and a robust plan to move forward.

Club Soda comprises of a group of people with learning disabilities who create exciting social and creative opportunities in Croydon for themselves and for other people. Formed in 2009, we became a registered charity in 2019 and deliver diverse projects that excite our community. Known for our friendliness, ambition and our experimental outlook, we are on a mission to ensure that Croydon is a place where people with learning disabilities are as happy, social, creative and valued as everyone else. Our board has remained unchanged for over 5 years and as we embark on exciting new projects, we are looking to recruit new trustees who could offer fresh insight to support our development. The new trustees would join the existing board at Club Soda and provide effective governance of the organisation. Our intention is to create a board that is a mix of professionals and members with lived experience of learning disability. An Advisory Board comprising of members with learning disabilities will also be in place to advise and support the Board of Trustees. The new board will comprise of no more than 8 and no less than 6 trustees. At least 50% of members should have a learning disability. The new Treasurer will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our ambitious plans for the next 3 years; supporting us to address our funding challenges and develop a long-term strategy for growth and a robust plan to move forward. Some of our goals over the next 3 years include: Actively participate and receive funds through the Borough of Culture activities in 2023 Secure a permanent operational base in central Croydon Achieve a 50% increase in pairing of Gig Buddies and attendance at social events to widen engagement Achieve a 50% increase in the reach of our Leisure Link podcast and newsletter, to give us a stronger platform to influence venues and improve local accessibility Through widening reach, raise awareness of inclusive music in the mainstream music sector and within music production companies. Utilise Club Soda's knowledge and insights on inclusion to create a training model for music venues and businesses. Engage hard to reach members of the community through partnerships with residential homes and service providers

Specific duties of the Treasurer Acting reasonably and prudently in all matters relating to Club Soda and always in its interests. Ensuring that there is an effective fundraising strategy in place. Ensuring that intangible assets such as organisational knowledge and expertise, the brand, good name and reputation are recognised, used and safeguarded. What we are looking for A finance professional. A knowledge of charity finance is an advantage. Otherwise, an enthusiasm to learn, drawing from sound commercial experience and an understanding of SMEs. A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity. Clear communicator with the ability to bring the financial information alive to non-finance specialists. Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, liaising with auditors. It would be desirable to have one or more of these Local knowledge Lived experience of disability Experience of working in the music or arts industry In addition, we’d like new board members to be Supportive Friendly Empathetic Level of Commitment expected from Trustee Position for minimum 2 years maximum 3 years 4 x meetings per year 1 x AGM Attend at least 1 event per year
