Parent Group Leader - Course Facilitator

Are you a parent or carer in Greenwich? Want to support other families in your community? We’re looking for volunteers to help deliver Being a Parent and Being a Parent Autism – friendly, evidence-based courses for local parents. You’ll receive free training (1 day a week for 10 weeks, during school hours), ongoing support, supervision, and travel expenses. Free childcare is available for pre-schoolers during training. Detailed Description

We are looking for volunteers to deliver a successful and evidence-based parenting programme called Being a Parent and Being a Parent Autism to other parents and carers in our community. We have been running these courses in Greenwich since June 2023. Empowering Parents Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a parenting programme delivered by parents who live in their own community. Parent group Leader training is voluntary and is delivered 1 day per week over 10 weeks. We will train and support you to become Volunteer Parent Facilitator. You will get comprehensive training, supervision, and continual support from staff. We will reimburse travel expense to the training and related traveling cost. Refreshments will be provided during the training. We will also provide you with free childcare/creche if you a child /children pre-school age (if you need it during the training period) The training programme runs for 10 weeks excluding school holidays and is from 9.30am-2.30pm.

Why these skills are required

We are looking for volunteers who have: - Parenting experience or knowledge – either as a parent or through relevant training/work. - A good level of spoken English – able to communicate clearly and confidently with others. - Patience and empathy – supportive attitude towards parents from all backgrounds. - Listening and communication skills – able to engage respectfully and help create a welcoming environment. - Reliability and punctuality – able to commit to scheduled sessions and work as part of a team.
