Childrens Craft Session Assistant

Detailed Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and friendly Children’s Craft Session Assistant to support our new weekly arts and crafts sessions held at the local Children’s Centre. These sessions are designed for children aged 2–5 and their parents or carers, offering a welcoming and creative space to connect, play, and explore through craft. This volunteer role will run for 8 weeks, starting Wednesday 25th June, with sessions taking place every Wednesday from 9:30am to 11:30am. As a volunteer assistant, you will work alongside our session leader to help prepare and tidy up materials, offer hands-on support to children and families, and help ensure the sessions run smoothly and safely. This is a rewarding opportunity to support early years development, build positive relationships, and encourage creativity within the community.

Why these skills are required

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being around young children and is happy to support families in a fun, creative space. You don’t need to be an expert crafter or have formal experience, just a positive attitude and a willingness to help out. This role would suit someone who: - is friendly, approachable, and enjoys working with people - feels comfortable engaging with young children in a playful way - is patient and calm, especially in lively group settings - enjoys arts and crafts and isn’t afraid to get a bit messy - can work well as part of a team and follow gentle guidance - is reliable and happy to help with set-up and tidy-up We’ll provide all the support you need, you’ll never be expected to know it all or do it alone.

Time Commitment

This role will start from the 25th of June and will continue for 8 weeks that we are certain of right now. Sessions will be 2 hours long so this role will be for a total of 16 hours. Ideally we would like a couple volunteers with all of that time available but we understand that may not be possible so we are happy to be flexible we just ask that you communicate your availability effectively in order to enable us to find the appropriate help.
