A unique opportunity for a Chair who shares our Christian faith, to help shape a compassionate and growing organization at a pivotal stage of its history, providing leadership and strategic direction, forging meaningful connections and helping to ensure effective governance and accountability.
Key Responsibilities ● Provide leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance and fulfilment of statutory and mandatory responsibilities. ● Chair Board meetings, encouraging full participation and clear decision-making. ● Work closely with the Trustees to support and review organizational performance and priorities. ● Represent DG at external meetings and events as a key ambassador, creating strategies for fund raising, sponsorship and partnership working. ● Support Trustee recruitment, development, and succession planning. ● Uphold the Christian ethos of DG Community Organization and ensure its integration into decision-making and strategy. Person Specification Essential: ● A committed Christian who can embody and champion DG’s faith-based values. ● A passion for social justice, particularly issues related to violence against women and girls and empowerment. ● Have knowledge and understanding of the statutory requirements for safeguarding. ● Strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills. ● Strategic planning or change management experience. ● Experience in partnership engagement and networking, forging effective relationships. ● Ability to commit time to attend meetings, prepare thoroughly and support DG when needed. Desirable: ● Previous experience on a Board of Trustees or in a leadership role within a non-profit or community organization. ● Understanding the role of safeguarding and the challenges facing survivors of domestic abuse. Time Commitment ● Approximately 10–12 hours per month. ● Four Trustee Board meetings annually (may include travel). ● Occasional ad hoc meetings or events as required.
