Volunteer Receptionist

First impressions last. When people contact us or visit our premises, their perception of SEL Mind often lies in the hands of our reception team. Our reception volunteers play an important role at the centre, ensuring that the front of house service runs smoothly, and that our visitors, volunteers, and staff receive a professional, warm, and friendly welcome.

Detailed Description

Key Responsibilities: 1. Provide a professional and confidential reception service for visitors/clients. This includes welcoming visitors and assisting with enquiries over phone, email and in person, promptly and efficiently. 2. Receive and sign for post and deliveries, ensuring relevant staff are notified and items are collected. 3. Build and maintain knowledge of SEL Mind projects and services in order to effectively connect clients to the relevant internal teams. 4. Develop a good understanding of external organisations and support services available locally and signpost clients to the appropriate external support when needed. 5. Record and update client signposting data using our database (training provided). 6. Ensure that the reception area is maintained to a high professional standard. Be responsible for the promotion of SEL Mind services, ensuring up-to-date materials are on display in reception areas and order fresh materials for display as required.

Provide information and signpost clients to these as appropriate • Understanding of, and commitment to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular) and database systems • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people and present information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing • A practical and calm approach to dealing with enquiries and the confidence to communicate boundaries where necessary • A proactive approach to problem solving within professional boundaries • Ability to maintain highest standards of confidentiality in relation to client information • Reliable, flexible, proactive and able to take initiative within the limits of responsibility
