To plan and lead 6 work parties along the canal network within the London area per year, undertaking cleaning or improvement work with committee and navigation authority permissions.
The role of the Task Party Organiser is to plan and organise six work party events in the London Regional area per year and to ensure all permissions, health and safety issues including PPE is in place and to share the marketing information to the regional Committee and Head Office to help promote the events. You will work with the committee and IWA to ensure the activities are run safely and enjoyably for the participants and the public who may be in the area at the time.

• Clear communication verbally and other media • Ability to organise a small number of people. • An understanding of local regulations and permit requirements (although the regional committee can support with this knowledge and engagement) • Understanding of tasks to be undertaken a • Ability to work out equipment requirements and PPE for any task. • To give inductions for each task to all volunteers engaging – templates available on website • To be open to diversity and inclusion and enable pall interested to find a way to engage positively. • Meet deadlines for events and dates set for work party session. • Ability to write risk assessment for the planned activities and where necessary individual risk assessments on individual volunteers where required (epileptic may need specific support or pairings to ensure their individual safety for instance). Support from regional committee, branches and head office is available for this. templates available on website • understand method statements if required for any individual activity planned. • Ensure first aid and GDPR issues are covered – this may be by another named individual.

Walks last 2 hours but pre preparation time and research on the heritage and other information on specific walks early on will maybe need extra planning time.
