The main role of a Tool Collector is to be our first contact in their local community. Our Tool Collectors are the people that members of the public contact to donate tools.
The main role of a Tool Collector is to be our first contact in their local community. Our Tool Collectors are the people that members of the public contact to donate tools. Our Tool Collectors collect the donated tools, load them into boxes (easy to get from supermarkets), and store them ready for one of our vans to collect. They then arrange with their local Van Manager for them to be collected by a TWAM van.

Tool Collectors need to be enthusiastic about what we do and the transforming power of tools. Many people donating tools do so following bereavement, so we need sensitive people willing to stop and talk rather than rush off. In other words, they are kind and friendly people! If you are driving to collect, you will need a valid UK Driving Licence, but this is not needed if you become a drop-off point. We will also need to check that you have adequate motor insurance and your car has an MOT. However, this is optional for a drop-off point. You will also need somewhere to store tools awaiting collection from the TWAM van.
You’ll join a great team and enjoy the visits from the TWAM Van Teams and the invitations to volunteer days. You will also receive a TWAM polo shirt and fleece. This is an incredibly rewarding role as you meet the general public and share our story with them. Many are so grateful that we are taking their tools rather than seeing them go to landfill. You’ll get a real buzz from many of the collections.
