Greenwich Carers Centre is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Trustees are legally responsible for all aspects of the charity and automatically become directors of the company. Greenwich Carers Centre has been providing support to unpaid carers across the Royal Borough of Greenwich since its inception in 1996. The charity employs fifteen people and supports a growing team of dedicated volunteers. The charity is a warm and friendly organisation that works under contract to the local authority and secures a range of project funding from awarding bodies, such as the Community Lottery Fund, the Henry Smith Foundation, and the Masonic Charitable Foundation. Greenwich Carers Centre provides important services that are dedicated to the support and respite of the borough’s carer community. Volunteers support an entire range of activities which the charity provide from its beautiful, Grade one listed premises, and out across the borough on an outreach basis. • Chairing the Finance Committee, which comprises certain trustees and the CEO • Liaising with the CEO on appropriate financial controls over the charity’s operations • Preparing and presenting to the Board, management accounts report, including quarterly income and expenditure, quarterly cash flow • Drafting the annual Report & Accounts, liaising with the auditor on year-end adjustments, and editing the auditor’s final accounts • Filing of all financial and update returns to the Charity Commission and Companies House • Monitoring, with the CEO, the bank balance and forecast cash flows • Maintaining, and reporting on, the quarterly Risk Management assessment • Approval and signing of grant applications and other financial information, as requested • Assisting the Chair and/or CEO in briefings / negotiations with third parties • Reviewing draft contracts on behalf of management • Submitting quarterly VAT returns to HMRC • Generally acting as a sounding board for the CEO and his management team
