Love Soup Café Site Team assists in the set-up and break down of tables and chairs and miscellaneous items for the café activities for 50 - 100 people on a Thursday from 10am at Broadwater Village Hall Goosander Way, West Thamesmead SE28 0ER.
Love Soup Café Site Team assists in the set-up and break down of the site for the café activities for 50 - 100 people on a Thursday from 10am at Broadwater Village Hall Goosander Way, West Thamesmead SE28 0ER. Tasks will include: - Set-up - Safely retrieve from the storage area, set up and organise all tables and chairs in the hall. - Break-down - Safely break down all tables and chairs in the hall, organise and store in the storage area. - Comply with all Health and Safety regulations for manual handling. - Work as part of a team with other volunteer staff. - Accept delegated responsibilities from Lead Host. - Attend Thursday from 10:00 am until task is completed (approx. 30 min.) OR from 5:00 pm until task is completed on a rota or timeshare the role. - When unavailable inform volunteer coordinator as soon as possible to arrange cover.

Basic meal planning, prep and soup cooking for up to 100 people including: - Choosing the featured menu which can include culturally relevant dishes or soups. - Communicating cooking needs to volunteer coordinator - Plan the purchase of ingredients within budget. - Prepare and cook food. - Ensure preparation area, utensils and surfaces are clean. - Check out of date food and ensure safe storage of ingredients. - Comply with all Health and Safety regulations in the kitchen area. - Have current Food Hygiene certification (level 2) - Identify and display allergen information. - Delegate responsibilities to kitchen and waiting volunteers
Volunteering at the Love Soup Café gives an excellent opportunity for to showcase your cooking skills, share favourite recipes and gain invaluable work experience and training possibilities through partners. WTCA offers letters of reference and certificates of recognition for volunteers that have successfully completed at least 6 shifts at the café. Volunteers public transport (bus) expenses will be covered where necessary. Volunteering at the Love Soup Café gives an excellent opportunity to be involved in a community project working as part of an excellent, committed, community-building team.
This role requires a minimum of 3 hours and up to 6 hours a week on Thursdays. The commitment can be from 1-4 times a month in rotation with other chefs.

Broadwater Village Hall is located behind the Heronsgate Medical Centre on Goosander Way. Heronsgate Primary School is across the street (Goosander Way) Both the 244 and 380 bus have stops at Heronsgate Primary School on Whinchat Road. The bus stops are a 1-2 minute walk from Broadwater Village Hall. Plumstead and Woolwich Arsenal stations are between 12/15 mins distance by both the 244 and 380 bus.
