Community Champion
End Violence and Racism Against East and Southeast Asian Communities
On Your Side is the only UK-wide support and reporting system for ESEA communities who experience racism and/or other forms of hate. The role of a Community Champion is to raise awareness of On Your Side within their unique network. This is a volunteering role, but we will pay for you to attend training at the equivalent to the Real Living Wage rate, depending on your UK location.
Community Champions are people from all walks of life, ages, East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) and non-ESEA backgrounds who champion the On Your Side service within their unique network. The main objective is to raise awareness of On Your Side. On Your Side is the only UK-wide support and reporting system for ESEA communities who experience racism and/or other forms of hate. It is free to use and available in multiple languages including, Fookien, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka, Japanese, and Vietnamese. Community Champions will be expected to complete 3 hours of online training. This is a volunteering role, but we will pay for you to attend training at the equivalent to the Real Living Wage rate, depending on your UK location. Once training is complete, volunteers will begin to champion the service. They will receive support in multiple ways. Some ways include monthly catch-up meetings with other volunteers in the programme and support offered from the volunteer coordinator. It is very flexible and we aim to work with our volunteers in whatever capacity they desire.

We do not require any skills. We do ask that you have access to the East and Southeast Asian community in some way.
This is a great opportunity for people to support the East and Southeast Asian community. By promoting our service, each volunteer is actively strengthening the community and creating safer, more inclusive spaces. This is also a great chance to build connections and relationships with other volunteers.
Volunteers are welcome to choose how much time they wish to commit to our programme. We recommend 1-2 hours a week.
