Advice Outreach Hubs Triage Assistant

Royal Greenwich is piloting an expansion of Advice Outreach hubs across the borough. This will provide drop-in advice hubs in community centres, where residents can access advice regarding welfare benefits, housing, debt, and immigration, all in one place at the same time. We are looking for triage assistants to assist with this pilot. This role involves supporting sessions by greeting residents, understand which area of advice they are seeking and support residents to complete a triage form.

Detailed Description

About this volunteering role: Royal Greenwich is piloting an expansion of Advice Outreach hubs across the borough. This will provide drop-in advice hubs in community centres, where residents can access advice regarding welfare benefits, housing, debt, and immigration, all in one place at the same time. We are looking for triage assistants to assist with this pilot. This role involves supporting sessions by greeting residents, understand which area of advice they are seeking, support residents to complete a triage questionnaire, booking appointments and managing the waiting list with the relevant adviser, and answering general questions. The role may also include overseeing the dispersal of the free meal provision available at the Hub sessions. The triage role is an opportunity to engage with residents, and potentially identify residents who may be appropriate to refer into the Live Well Service for further support. The advice hubs are in the following locations: • Monday morning (09:30 – 12:30): The Forum (Greenwich SE10) - Two volunteers required • Wednesday morning (09:30 – 12:30) : St Mary’s Community Centre (Eltham SE9) – One volunteer required • Ideally a minimum of three months commitment. The role may require you to do any of the following: • Greet residents • Support residents to complete triage questionnaire if necessary • Identify area of law needed, direct them to adviser, or to waiting area to wait until adviser is ready • To keep track of who is next in the queue for each adviser • Sharing signposting literature, or refer to Live Well if needed • Overseeing the dispersal of meals Training and support: • Initial training on completing the consent form • Overview of the format of the day – prior to each session Apply for this role: Thank you for reading through the information about this role.
