Library Volunteer

Woodberry Down Library

Can you volunteer once a week in Woodberry Down library, acting as first point of contact for library customers and to facilitate their use of the library service?

Detailed Description

This role involves: - Greeting customers and signing people up for the library's services. - Serving customers in a friendly and efficient manner and proactively offering help and support to customers - Helping customers use the online library services and computers - Returning items to the shelves accurately and to keep the library tidy. - Taking part in school class visits and one off events and activities, this includes registering the children to the library, helping them with their enquiries and/or reading stories and rhymes. We would love to hear from volunteers who can offer a weekly commitment, but most crucially from people with availability on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Shifts are 10am-1pm, and 2pm-6pm. Volunteer training is provided and this role requires a DBS check (all costs covered).

Why these skills are required

Volunteers need to be approachable and helpful when working with customers and alongside other volunteers. They need to be able to use computers, search the internet and use apps on phones and tablets. A love of reading is a bonus!
