We would like a fit younger person to help a group of elderly people that meets on a Monday lunchtime at Granfers Community Centre, Central Sutton.
We are looking for an over 18 year old, friendly and helpful person to help our older (60+ years old) members. The roles are very simple: - Making tea and coffee - Handing tea and coffee to older less mobile members - Helping move tables and chairs - Taking food to the members - Be a friendly face to talk to the members and help them feel comfortable, a group befriender. - Provide simple assistance for activities like chair yoga and bingo, if needed. Can be part of our celebrations of religious festivals, our annual seaside trip and any other fun activities we take part in. The venue is Granfers Community Centre, meeting at 11.00-2.00pm on a Monday, no need to arrive earlier or stay later. Sangam is a charity that has been around for almost 25 years to give a quality of life to the older members of Sutton to encourage them to come out of the house to help maintain their mobility and help them meet friends, talk and reduce loneliness. Looking for a fit and healthy younger person who is friendly, smiley and helpful to aid an older group of Sutton residents enjoy an afternoon out by passing cups of tea and coffee, friendly and talk to people. Occasionally moving tables around the room.
A very simple but hugely impactful way to make a difference sevring your community of isolated older members of our community. Gain skills on how to work best with the elderly in a caring role, fully supported and with a group of friendly people. You can get involved in the chair yoga and bingo.
