Volunteer GCSE Maths Tutor (Online)

GT Scholars programme

Help young people improve their Maths grades by providing 1-to-1 tutoring support for 1 hour a week.

Detailed Description

(1) Volunteers tutors will need to be able to tutor Maths up to GCSE level for 12 weeks. (2) You will receive induction & training, as well as regular support & supervision and a volunteer handbook. (3) We will need to conduct reference checks and you will need an Enhanced DBS for this role as you will be working directly with children. We can process this for you or you may submit one if this is less than 2 years old.

Admin, Basic IT skills - internet & email, Counselling, Evaluating & Reviewing, Language Skills, Maths, Organising & Planning, Reading & Writing

Why these skills are required

(1) The minimum requirement for this role is an A or A* grade at A-level in Maths. (2) Must be able to tutor up to the GCSE level. (3) Tutors will work collaboratively online with other tutors and mentors. (4) Tutors will need to provide feedback to parents at the start and end of the term. (5) Build a young person’s confidence and knowledge in Maths in one-to-one online sessions.

(2) Volunteer tutors will help scholars improve by identifying where their strengths and weaknesses lie within the subject. (3) With the GT Scholars programme, you will be a part of a team that tackles educational inequality by giving ambitious young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, the strategies, skills and support they need to achieve their academic and career ambitions. (4) Gain interesting and new perspectives by working with young people from diverse backgrounds. (5) Receive training and support and be part of a community of like-minded volunteers.

Time Commitment

(1) We ask tutors to commit to a minimum of 2 academic terms (6 months) of volunteering. Online Maths tutoring sessions will be scheduled for once a week for 12 weeks (1 term). (2) The online Maths tutoring sessions can be scheduled to fit into your schedule and are arranged directly with your tutee's parent or carer.
