Who We Are Abbeyfield Southern Oaks is a not-for-profit organisation that provides supported housing for older people who wish to remain independent but no longer want the responsibilities of maintaining a home or garden. We aim to diminish loneliness and isolation through companionship, social interaction, and fostering a supportive community. With five supported houses and a vibrant retirement hub, Nonsuch Abbeyfield, we are committed to upholding our vision and values in the heart of Surrey. Our dedicated team of employees, trustees, volunteers, and service professionals comes from the local area, ensuring a deep connection to the community we serve. We pride ourselves on creating a positive environment where residents, volunteers, and staff alike can thrive. What’s Involved As a Residents’ Support Trustee, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the welfare of our residents while strengthening the connection between residents, staff, volunteers, and the Board. The role focuses on: • Advising and guiding: Provide insights to the Chair and Board on matters relating to resident care and welfare. • Building connections: Foster strong relationships with residents, House Managers, and volunteers through regular visits and attending social activities. • Promoting communication: Act as a link between the Board, Services Committee, and residents to ensure policies and activities are aligned with resident needs. • Encouraging activities: Support House Managers and volunteers in organizing outings and social gatherings for residents. If you prefer not to commit as a trustee, you are welcome to volunteer and contribute in a capacity that suits your availability and interests. What’s In It For You? Time Commitment

ime Commitment • Attend quarterly Board meetings (typically held in Surrey). • Make informal visits to the houses as needed, joining coffee mornings, lunches, and social activities. • Co-chair the Residents and Volunteers Group alongside a fellow trustee. • Time spent liaising with staff and other Board members. We estimate the time commitment to be approximately 1-2 days per month.
