What skills are required for this role

Leadership Skills, Working part of Team, Communication Skills, Listening Skills

Why these skills are required

We need: • Governors with sector expertise in industries where many of our students aspire to build their careers. • One governor with legal experience. • One governor with safeguarding experience. • One governor with a track record in race relations, inclusion, and tackling inequality. No previous governance or education experience required – just a passion for education and a commitment to inclusion!

What is in it for you

Governance is a voluntary, unremunerated role, but the personal rewards of contributing to the college’s mission are immeasurable.

Time Commitment

The time commitment varies according to how many roles each governor takes on, in terms of committee and link governor roles, but we suggest that it probably adds up to about 7-10 days a year in total. That takes place in term time only and allows for a couple of hours attending each meeting and a couple of hours reading papers for each meeting.
