Volunteers should be good at listening and engaging with visitors, who are often service users. They must be inclusive and non-judgemental. Sensitivity and discretion are essential. Candidates should also be reliable, with good time-keeping skills and money literacy for processing sales.
Volunteer learning is very important to us. We organise regular talks and tours for our volunteers, mostly relating to the exhibits in our museum/gallery, the history of Bethlem Hospital, our archives and the history of the hospital grounds. We also organise regular cultural outings for our volunteers to local and London-based museums, historical houses, etc. You will also gain retail and customer service experience.
Weekly commitment on Wednesday mornings (10am - 1pm) for a minimum of 6-12 months but ideally longer.
