Trustee Secretary

Jigsaw4U

We are looking for a new Trustee with skills to fit our Secretary role.  As well as being an active member of the Board of Trustees, the role involves working closely with our Chair and supporting the Board through minuting meetings and helping facilitate good communication throughout the group.

Detailed Description

The role Being a Trustee of Jigsaw4u is an exciting and fulfilling role. Our Board benefits from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets. Their role is to ensure that Jigsaw4u fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on our vision, impact, goals and values. We are looking for a new Trustee with skills to fit our Secretary role.  As well as being an active member of the Board of Trustees, the role involves working closely with our Chair and supporting the Board through minuting meetings and helping facilitate good communication throughout the group. Individual trustees also often take responsibility for specific aspects of Board and organisational priorities. The purpose The Board of Trustees are jointly responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the probity of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines. All Trustees should also be aware of, and understand their individual and collective responsibilities, and the Board should not be overly reliant on one or more individual Trustees in any particular aspect of the governance of the charity. Why these skills are required

We’re looking for passionate and committed individuals who believe in the work that we do, and who want to play a part in our future strategic development. You do not need to have been a Trustee before or have previous Board experience. We need people who are willing to devote the necessary time and effort to support the work of Jigsaw4u, that have an ability to think creatively and are happy to provide views. We are very lucky to have a Board of varied backgrounds, experience and skill sets and we are looking to add further skill sets and replace those of trustees who leave when their terms come to an end. It is important that individuals have an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liability of being a trustee (we can provide further information on those duties and responsibilities). The Charity Commission sets out six key duties for charity trustees: - Ensure your charity is carrying out its purpose for the public benefit - Comply with your charity’s governing document and the law - Act in the interests of their charity and its beneficiaries - Manage your charity’s resources responsibly - Act with reasonable care and skill - Ensure your charity is accountable

Time Commitment

The Board meets four to five times a year as well as an annual away day and ad-hoc meetings when necessary. Also welcomed to help take part with fundraising events of their own choosing.
