Volunteer cooking opportunities at homeless shelter in Hackney
Volunteers are vital to the work we do supporting people experiencing homelessness in Hackney. We have a great need at the moment for cooks here at the moment and are looking for volunteers to prepare evening meals for our guests at the shelter. We need people who can give a Wednesday evening to cook and serve a hearty, comforting meal at the shelter. You can cook on site here in our fully equipped kitchen; come in at any time in the morning or afternoon before an evening shift to start cooking, and cook here in the staff kitchen. But you can also start cooking at 5 or 6pm, and stick around with the other volunteers and serve dinner, and eat with the guests. Alternatively, of course you can cook at home anytime you like and then bring the food in. We serve dinner between at 7 - 8 pm, and the volunteer shift ends at 10pm. It's a massive help to us if you can cook and volunteer/stick around so if your able to- that’s fab! Don't worry if you can’t cook, as we have a big need for non-cooking volunteers at the shelter at the moment and if you could spare any time on weekday evenings or weekends to help prepare or serve food and help with the general running of the shelter that would be fabulous. Please see our 'Shelter Volunteer' role to find out more.
