Food banks provide three-day emergency food parcels for people in crisis, working in partnership with organisations across the community. Drivers play a fundamental role in the running of the food bank, collecting food donations from a variety of locations across the local area as well as distributing the sorted donations from the warehouse to the local food bank centres.
Food banks provide three-day emergency food parcels for people in crisis, working in partnership with organisations across the community. Drivers play an important role in promptly transporting food from collection points to the warehouse for sorting, and finally onto the local food bank, which will help to make a real difference in your community. You will also be involved in delivering parcels to vulnerable residents with mobility issues, who are unable to come and pick up from our distribution centres. A confident and safe driver, you’ll enjoy being part of a team and be physically strong so that you can lift and load crates of food. Your flexible and committed approach will help to maximise donations and improve the efficiency of the food bank. What you will be doing?: - Collecting food donations from collection points such as supermarkets, schools and churches around the local area. - Delivering food donations to the warehouse. - Transporting sorted food from the warehouse to the local food bank centre. - Carrying heavy boxes of canned foods. - Regular loading and unloading of vehicles. - Regular driving across the local area. Please note that for this role we require a clean driving licence, ideally some experience with driving large vehicles, and depending on the shifts covered, a DBS check may be required for this role.
