Detailed Description

A volunteer is needed to support our volunteers with learning disabilities to take part fully in our Community Allotment sessions. The support volunteer will attend Monday morning sessions at the Carshalton Community Allotment and work with individuals or small groups to help them engage with the activities on offer each session. Working under the direction of the session supervisor, this volunteer will help participants to enjoy their sessions by leading them in gardening themed activities, including weeding, watering, growing and engaging with nature - listening for birdsong, identifying creepy crawlies, learning the names of plants. Ideally, the volunteer will have experience working or volunteering with this client group. Gardening experience is not necessary and volunteers will be offered one free place for themselves on one of our horticultural workshops or our 6-week gardening course to enhance their skills. Volunteering can be on a rota basis if more than one volunteer takes up this role. If interested, please contact us directly: Tansy Honey, volunteering@ecolocal.org.uk or 020 8404 1522.
