Marketing Volunteers
Age Concern Orpington and District (Saxon Centre)
We are looking to recruit volunteers who have experience of working in marketing or a similar environment to help with the development and implementation of a marketing strategy for the Saxon Centre.
The Saxon Day Centre is located in Lych Gate Road just off of Orpington High Street and provides day care services and support for carers in the local area. As a result of the covid pandemic in May 2021 the Saxon Centre is the only day centre that remains open in the Borough. Although the centre is known locally to a lot of people and businesses in order to continue to provide these much needed services to the local community we are looking to recruit a number of volunteers who are happy to support us with marketing the business. We are therefore looking to recruit a team of volunteers who are happy to support the management and staff team to attend events, run marketing stands, undertake presentations to other organisations to promote the services we have to offer. Raising the profile of the business and the services we have on offer is fundamental to the continued success of the business. We are looking for people who perhaps have a background in marketing but more importantly are full of enthusiasm, with novel and innovative ideas on how we can raise our profile and get ourselves know to the local community. You need to be confident, enthusiastic, well organised and be prepare to have a go. Your role might entail telephoning prospective supporters or organising and attending promotional events. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 10.00 am until 3.00pm each day however some of these events may take place in the evening or at the weekend so flexibility is key to this role. The hours are based on what you are able to contribute but may vary week to week, month to month. There are no age restrictions for volunteers but you must be physically fit and be prepared to join in and work as part of the team. You will be provided with an induction into the centre and will be required to undertake some training relevant to the role you have applied for. In order to apply you will need to complete and application form. We will need to obtain references and a DBS as you will be working with vulnerable elderly clients. This is a very rewarding and satisfying role and it provides you with the opportunity to meet local elderly residents and ensure they are not isolated in their own home.

We are looking for somebody who has previous experience of working in marketing either for a charity or within a similar role. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the strategies required to raise the profile of the centre and how best this can be achieved.
Working within a volunteer role in marketing will enable you to use your skills to help raise the profile of the centre, increase interest in the services we offer to older people in the local community and help protect the business for the future of older people.
