Fundraising volunteers
Age Concern Orpington and District (Saxon Centre)
We are looking for a number of volunteers with an interest in supporting the centre with fundraising activities and events. This may include helping to organise events, helping to set up for an event or attending functions at other centres to raise our profile.
The Saxon Day Centre is located in Lych Gate Road just off of Orpington High Street and provides day care services and support for carers in the local area. Like a lot of businesses we have been impacted significantly by Covid with a loss of income for over one year. During this time we have not been idle and have worked with the Trustees to upgrade the building to ensure it is covid complaint to ensure the safe return of our clients and staff. To support the business moving forward we are looking to recruit a team of fundraising volunteers who are happy to support the management and staff team to organise and run a variety of different events. The money we raise will go towards the development of some new services we are planning along with supporting the current activities of the centre. We are looking for people who perhaps have a background in fundraising but more importantly are full of enthusiasm and great ideas to support this valuable role. You need to be confident, well organised and be prepare to get stuck in and get on with anything that needs to be done. This might include telephoning prospective supporters, collecting donations, organising and attending fundraising events. The centre is open Monday to Friday from 10.00 am until 3.00pm each day however some of these events may take place in the evening or at the weekend so flexibility is key to this role. The hours are based on what you are able to contribute but may vary week to week, month to month. There are no age restrictions for volunteers but you must be physically fit and be prepared to join in and work as part of the team. You will be provided with an induction into the centre and will be required to undertake some training relevant to the role you have applied for. In order to apply you will need to complete an application form. We will need to obtain references and a DBS as you will be working with vulnerable elderly clients. This is a very rewarding and satisfying role and it provides you with the opportunity to meet local elderly residents and ensure they are not isolated in their own home.

We are looking for a number of people to support the centre with fundraising events and activities. You may have previous experience of fundraising in a previous role or just be interested in supporting the centre to raise vital funds to enable us to develop a range of services for older people from the local community. You need to be flexible in your approach and available to support with events that may take place during the day, in the evening or at weekends.
Fundraising is a fundamental part of any charity as the money we raise goes towards supporting the development of other activities at the centre. This role can be very rewarding in knowing you have helped to support services for older people but also provides the volunteers with an opportunity to work as part of the Saxon team and develop personal relationships with other like minded people
