Befrienders will support adults to get involved with access activities in the community - whether that's going to a cafe for a chat, looking round local museums and art galleries or accessing sporting activities.
Befrienders will support and befriender adults with mental health problems. The aim is to develop a supportive relationship with the service users, to increase feelings of belonging, to help reduce social isolation and to increase the service user's confidence and self-esteem. Befriending is a chance to use your free time in an enjoyable and positive way. You will be able to share your own interests, knowledge and experience in this role. Befriending allows you to develop your communication and support skills, which can be useful in exploring career options or career change. You will be able to meet new people and gain references for future jobs, whilst learning more about SLaM and mental health care.
