As an Advice and Information Volunteer, you will support Carers by giving them accurate, up to date advice and information about a range of topics, including local and national services and support they may be entitled to.

Detailed Description

As an Advice and Information Volunteer, you will support Carers by giving them accurate, up to date advice and information about a range of topics, including local and national services and support they may be entitled to. Taking registrations and initial queries from Carers, you will triage their support needs and refer to the most appropriate staff member for ongoing support. What skills are required for this role

Basic IT skills - internet & email, Research, Communication Skills, Helpful & Caring

Why these skills are required

A clear communicator with a confident telephone manner. Experience of using MS Office and other IT applications including email. Willingness to undertake mandatory training courses, including basic benefits training. Enjoys working as part of a team. All our volunteers and staff work within the Centre’s Confidentiality, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunity and Diversity Policies. Previous knowledge and experience of carer issues would be particularly useful but not essential as full training will be given. Previous knowledge and experience of benefits and local supportive services would be particularly useful but not essential as full training will be given.

What is in it for you

Supervision and support from the Adult Carer Services Manager. Induction and training. Reimbursement of travel expenses. References can be provided after 6 months of volunteering. A friendly and supportive atmosphere where you can learn new skills, make new friends and challenge yourself.

Time Commitment

One morning or afternoon session per week - eg 10-until 1.30pm or 1.30pm until 5.00pm
